There are lots of ways to get more value besides salary and vacation.

The theme for this week's videos was all squeezing a little more value out of your employment contract. In these short video clips, I went over:

  1. negotiating a signing bonus;

  2. avoiding the tax on your signing bonus by having the employer deposit it directly to your RRSP account;

  3. reducing the tax on each paycheque via the T1213 and getting an exemption to any related employer policy;

  4. a bunch of other overlooked ways to increase the total value of your contract; and

  5. getting your employer to pay for your lawyer to review your job offer.

You can find more details on each of these points in the descriptions attached to these videos.

Next week I'll be covering common employer mistakes that void your contract.
