accessibility

As a “small organisation” within the meaning of the Integrated Accessibility Standards under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (the “AODA”), Clausework Professional Corporation (“Clausework”) is not required to have a written Accessibility Policy or a statement of organisational commitment to meet the accessibility needs of persons with disabilities in a timely manner.  But, I'm happy to exceed my statutory obligations and share this Accessibility Policy with you.

Clausework’s Commitment

Clausework is committed to providing services to persons with disabilities in ways that promote independence, dignity, integration, and equal opportunity. My goal is to provide all clients, including those with disabilities, with the same opportunity to access and use Clausework’s services. If a barrier can't be removed, I'll look for other ways for you to access my services.

Application

Despite the jurisdictional limits of the AODA, I am voluntarily applying this Accessible Policy to the delivery of all of Clausework’s services across Canada.

Website

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. This website is fully conformant with WCAG 2.0 level AA. Fully conformant means that the content fully conforms to the accessibility standard without any exceptions.

Assistive Devices

Persons with disabilities can access my services through the use of their own assistive devices. I have also familiarised myself with various assistive devices that clients with disabilities may use when accessing my services.

Support Persons

A support person or persons may join a client with disabilities in a legal consultation provided that the client consents, the support person(s) sign a confidentiality agreement, and there is no conflict of interest.  To ensure the informed consent of the client, I will privately explain solicitor-client privilege and confidentiality to the client first.

Training

I am familiar with the purposes and requirements of the AODA and the Human Rights Code and have completed online training with respect to same.  The training modules covered:

  • how to interact and communicate with people with various types of disabilities;

  • how to interact with people with disabilities who use an assistive device or require the assistance of a support person; and

  • what to do if a person with a disability is having difficulty accessing my services.

I am committed to undergoing regular refresher training.

Feedback

I am always looking for ways to improve accessibility to my services and this Website and would welcome any feedback you may have.  Feedback about the accessibility of this Website, my services, and this feedback process may be submitted using any of the following methods:
